This is an educational and informational site run by one person as a hobby. It shares what we have learned from years of keeping and breeding these animals, along with tools, records, and links to sources. It is not a shop and it is not a business. Nothing here is sold.

Anything on this site about health, medicine, dosing, nutrition, or the law is educational, not professional advice. We are not your veterinarian, your doctor, or your lawyer. The dosing calculator and health pages are a starting point for a conversation with a professional, not a substitute for one.

If you create an account or send an application (for example, to adopt a rat or to become a breeder in the network), please give accurate information and use the account honestly. We may remove access if an account is used to harass others, to break the law, or to misrepresent who you are or where you keep animals.
Animals, adoption, and breeding
Whether you may keep, adopt, or breed these animals depends entirely on the laws where you live, and those laws vary a great deal. It is your responsibility to know and follow them. When the site helps people find each other (for example, to place a rat or to start a colony), it is only providing information and a way to connect. Any arrangement between two people is between those two people. The project is not a party to it and takes no responsibility for it.

The writing, photographs, and tools on this site are the work of this project. You are welcome to read them, share a link, or quote a small part with credit. Please do not copy whole pages, republish the material wholesale, or present it as your own work. The free Pet Freedom tool has its own open license, described on its own page.
